LAC Regional Gender Initiatives


CARE's Latin America and the Caribbean Regional unit decided to promote a regional initiative that allows them to accompany women’s organizations in fulfilling their own agendas, and after a process of reflection, decided to pursue the topic of the sexual division of labor in the lives of men and women. Their review of the sexual division of labor led to a focus on the rights of domestic workers. A 2012 report of the region's work with domestic workers can be downloaded here:

Miriam Moya and Sofia Sprechmann from the CARE Latin America Regional office presented on their work with organizations fighting for the rights of domestic workers across the region, at the Association of Women's Rights in Development forum in Istanbul, Turkey in April 2012.
